Engineering

Study the field of engineering, which uses science, mathematics, and creativity to solve technological problems. The major branches of engineering are aerospace engineering (involving the design and construction of aircraft, missiles, and spacecraft), civil engineering (involving the design and supervision of the construction of facilities such as buildings, transit systems, and water supply and treatment), electrical engineering (involving the design and construction of devices and systems that use electricity), mechanical engineering (involving the design and construction of power-producing and power-using machines and engines), and computer engineering (involving the design of computer hardware).

There are many other specialized branches beyond these broad categories. Other branches of engineering include industrial engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, materials engineering, biomedical engineering, nuclear engineering, petroleum engineering, manufacturing engineering, automotive engineering, and agricultural engineering.

The accomplishments of engineering can be seen in many aspects of our daily lives, from transportation to communications, entertainment to health care. Regardless of the branch, engineers begin their work with a problem to solve, and use their expertise to perform careful analysis, design of a solution based on their analysis, and transform that design into a physical reality. Many engineers develop new products as part of their work and can be involved in the testing, production, and maintenance of the products they design.
