Thomson Gale Launches Academic OneFile at ALA National Conference

New Services for Academic Market Offered Through Collaboration with Thomson Scientific

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 22, 2006 – At the ALA National Conference, Thomson Gale, part of the Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) , will unveil the newest addition to the InfoTrac® suite of full-text products – Academic OneFile.

Directed primarily at academic researchers, Academic OneFile is a collection of more than 8,000 journals with full manual indexing, a robust backfile and coverage of a variety of academic disciplines -- from science, technology and medicine to the humanities. With the majority of the content peer-reviewed and available in full-text with no restrictions, users are able to access content quickly and conduct comprehensive research effortlessly. Content is provided in both HTML and PDF formats.

In addition to all of the services available through the new Thomson Gale PowerSearch platform, a number of new services will be offered through collaboration with Thomson Scientific for mutual subscribers. Academic OneFile users will be able to view cited references, citing articles, and related records from Thomson Scientific’s Web of Science® and will be able to view current and historical information on a journal's Impact Factor seamlessly from the Journal Citation Reports® . Further, Thomson Scientific Web of Knowledge® users will be able to link to the full-text of an article right from Academic OneFile.

Academic OneFile also features a continued linking arrangement with JSTOR for a large number of periodicals, as well as full OpenURL compliance for e-journal and subscription access. In addition to all of the premier journals, subscribers can also access full-text New York Times articles from 1995 to present; hundreds of podcasts; video; audio and transcripts from sources such as NPR. Subscription to Academic OneFile includes access to the following cross-searchable databases, each containing unique reference and periodical content:

Qaimari will showcase Academic OneFile and Thomson Gale PowerSearch at the ALA Vendor Show during the ALA National Convention. Qaimari’s presentation will be held at the Royal St. Theater on Sunday, June 25, from 3:20 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. The product will be available for subscription in July.
