Overview
This will be the first book to introduce meta-analysis and demonstrate the utility of the techniques for research in public management and policy. It will provide statistical approaches to meta-analysis most useful for public policy and management and will feature five examples of original meta-analyses conducted by the author and his team of important questions in public management and policy. These original studies will show readers step-by-step how to conduct a meta-analysis while also contributing original research on important issues in public policy and management. The book features appendicies for further practice and study, the elemens of which will be included in a companion website: Appendix A: Technical Elements of Meta-Analysis Estimations - The statistical theory underlying meta-analysis, and detailed descriptions of the statistical foundations of the advanced meta-regression topics described in chapter 6. Appendix B: Statistical Software for Meta Analysis: The authors will compare and contrast the ease with which public management scholars might conduct a meta-analysis using the following commonly-available statistical software packages: Comprehensive Meta-Analysis, SAS, Stata. Appendix C: Stata Code for Meta-Analysis: The autors will provide a unique Stata code so that readers can execute all of the meta-analysis routines described in chapters 3, 4, and 5. The author will also provide; sample syllabi, Powerpoint slides and a test bank.
