Overview
This book features 100 graphic organizers that elementary teachers can use as a before learning, during learning, and after learning activities.\xa0 These graphic organizers will support students learning of new content in the major content areas: English language arts, science, social studies, and mathematics.\xa0 By providing a visual representation that uses symbols to express ideas, concepts, and convey meaning, graphic organizers help depict relationships between facts, terms, and ideas.\xa0 Graphic organizers are a powerful metacognitive teaching and learning strategy that support students learning of new content.\xa0 Not only does this book provide more than double the content of leading competitors, but it also provides teachers with the tools to create their own graphic organizers for any grade level. This book will feature similar elements to Katie McKnights popular book for secondary teachers, The Teachers Big Book of Graphic Organizers, Grades 5-12, including a Difficulty Dial (a quick reference for teachers to determine the complexity of each graphic organizer), Tips for Classroom Implementation (an overview of each graphic organizer explaining how the tool supports student learning), and a Student Sample (demonstrating how the organizer may be used).\xa0 The design will also emulate the popular, user friendly, design of McKnights first book.
