Overview
The Sociology Reference Guide series is designed to provide a solid foundation for the research of various sociologicaltopics. This volume surveys the formation of cultures and offers readers an introductory understanding of sociologicalmethods and important concepts in the field. The essays are divided into four subsets: the first explores the relationshipbetween culture and biological processes; the second defines the use of language, symbols, and other forms of culturalinformation; the third investigates dominant cultural patterns or norms; and the fourth looks at the development processof distinct cultures and ethnic groups.
