The Industrial Revolution began in Europe but really caught fire in the United States, sparked by abundant natural resources, an engaged government and entrepreneurial class, and an energized and ambitious population. These forces came together most dramatically in the communications and food industries, where the United States introduced innovations that transformed the entire world.
