Cai Fang is a researcher at the Institute of Rural Development at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and has held several leadership positions with the academy, including deputy director of the academy's Institute of Population Studies and dean of the demology department at the academy's graduate school. He is co-author of The Miracle of China: Development Strategy and Economic Reform (with Lin Yi-fu and Li Tong), China's Ongoing Agricultural Reform (with Colin A. Carter and FuningZhong), and Competition, Policy Burden and Reform of State-Owned Enterprises (with Lin Yi-fu and Li Tong).
