The Academic Knight Between East and West: A Biography of Alexander Stael von Holstein

Wang Qilong is a renowned scholar of Tibetan studies and Chinese linguistics in China. He received his Master's degree from Renmin University of China in 1993. Having obtained his PhD from Central University of Nationalities in 1996, he held a full position at Tsinghua University successively as lecturer, associate professor, full professor, and PhD supervisor. He was also vice-president of Tibet University from 2005 to 2009 and has been chair professor at Shaanxi Normal University since 2011. In the academic year 2003-2004, he was a visiting scholar of Harvard-Yenching Institute. Apart from his outstanding academic achievements, Wang has published numerous monographs (in Chinese, English, and Korean), and multiple works on Tibetan studies and Chinese linguistics. He is also one of the chief editors of the critically acclaimed Selected Translations of the Tibetan Studies and the co-editor of the 14-volume Complete Works by Li Fangkuei.; Deng Xiaoyong is currently associate professor of library science at Tsinghua University and obtained her Master's degree\nin literature from Central University of Nationalities in Beijing in 1996. She was visiting librarian at Harvard-Yenching Library\nin 2004. Her main works include A History of Tibetan Studies in China (until 1949) and the Chinese editions of Zangren Yan\nZang and Li Fanggui Xiansheng Koushushi.
