Investigates the room for religious activities and the restriction of religious freedom in contemporary China based on an examination of the Regulations on Religious Affairs ("Regulations") promulgated on March 1, 2005. The book discusses the following topics: China's policies on religion and the guiding ideology behind the regulations; prior work that has been done in recent years concerning legislation on religion in China; macro legal background of the enactment of the regulation; and issues with the regulations.
