Opportunities in Digital Scholarship
Researching the human experience helps us to understand the world we live in and imagine the future. Groundbreaking digital tools can support the creation of bold new theories, collaboration among researchers, and interdisciplinary work within the social and natural sciences.
Finding the content and means to analyze historical texts—including locally sourced content—is a growing challenge for our customers, their student users, and the research community at large. At Gale, we task ourselves to support libraries as they adapt to new research practices and the possibility of giving new scholarly purpose to long-held primary source collections.
Our goal is to learn, support, and help advance digital scholarship initiatives across the humanities and other disciplines for our customers.
The Digital Scholar Lab from Gale
Gale is currently beta testing the Digital Scholar Lab—a new research experience that removes key barriers of entry into digital scholarship and enables researchers of all levels to quickly build corpora of analysis-ready, text-data sourced from Gale’s unrivaled digital collection of primary source material. It brings together content, tools and organization to increasingly complex projects in a user-friendly interface that accelerates the workflow to generate new insights faster.
For librarians, the library has traditionally been the center of scholarly information. The Digital Scholar Lab helps to create new awareness of the library’s diverse primary source content collections with an expanding audience of established and emerging digital scholars. It serves as an opportunity to send a broad message of support to scholarly research across the campus while maximizing usage of library investments.
