Overview
Sepsis is one of the leading causes of admission and mortality in intensive care units, due to many factors, among them the aging population, the highest number of invasive surgical procedures and everyday practices and all conditions associated with immunosuppression, such as chemotherapy, radiation, and the diseases and conditions that are intrinsically linked to immune system dysfunction. Thanks to the selfless and enthusiastic support of all contributors to this book it was possible to combine an excellent text, the first and only of its kind in Mexico, which also has the bonus of harmoniously integrating domestic and foreign teachers, with the aim of raising awareness and spreading knowledge of this terrible scourge ravaging hospitals and its ICUs. The text was planned to analyze the different chapters of the epidemiology, pathophysiology, genetics, markers, diagnostic methods, the and organ dysfunction in sepsis treatment options within the highlighting the impact of the Campaign to Increase Survival of Sepsis.
